HOW TO CHOOSE MY YOGA MAT ?
BAYA ADVISES ME

THE THICKNESS

  • If you like balance postures, fast flows where joints that are not too stressed, a rather thin mat (3 mm) will suit you perfectly: it will allow you to feel connected to the ground and very stable.
  • If you like to hold postures for a long time or if you have weak joints, prefer a slightly thicker mat (4.5 mm - 6 mm) for more comfort and cushioning.
  • Finally, if you want a mat that you can lay over the mats offered in the studio or if you want to be able to fold it, choose a very thin mat (1 mm).

THE MATERIAL

The material used for your yoga mat will determine its durability and feel.

  • Most yoga mats are made of PVC (ours are made of non-toxic PVC) which provides optimal comfort and softness. Soft range
  • The most sustainable and eco-responsible option is the choice of natural rubber. A very resistant material, natural rubber offers comfort, ground stability and durability over time. You will not be ready to part with it. Intense range, Travel range and Pro range
  • The micro-fibre which covers some of our mats, is very effective against slipping problems caused by perspiration. Indeed, in contact with moisture, the micro-fibre becomes totally non-slip. In addition, it is soft and so pleasant to the touch! But be careful, this material will not be suitable for people who have very dry hands and feet or who practice types of yoga where you do not sweat. Intense range and Travel range
  • Polyurethane, on the other hand, is a totally non-slip material, super adherent and pleasant to the touch. It is ideal for those who practice very frequently because it will wear very little and will have a very long life time. Pro range

THE WEIGHT

  • If you want to take it with you everywhere, you will need either a PVC belt, quite light and thick (Soft range), or a very thin, foldable and very light belt (Travel range).
  • If you practice more at home, the slightly heavier mats (Intense and Pro range) are generally denser, stable on the ground and last longer.

THE USE

Do not choose the same mat if you do yoga once every two weeks or if you do it every day ! In the second case, it is important to practice on a more durable and resistant material (Intense and Pro Ranges).

Also, the choice of your mat varies according to the type of yoga you practice: prefer the Soft range and its comfort for the yogas soft and the Intense and Travel ranges for more dynamic yogas. The Pro range is suitable for all types of yoga.

THE DESIGN

It's finally the easiest thing to do! Finally...

Choose a design that inspires and pleases you. This will facilitate your concentration and help you to let go, to escape. A nice mat always makes the practice more pleasant and helps to be more regular and motivated.
